AUDIBLE BOOKS ON SOAP – LEARN BY LISTENING REVIEW

AUDIBLE BOOKS ON SOAP – LEARN BY LISTENING REVIEW

As a former teacher in the public school system, my experience taught me that every student learns in their own special way. Therefore, as a teacher, I was always focused on helping the students understand the new material by making sure I met all their learning needs. There are those who must see, feel, or hear when they learn. By bringing you news of audible books on soap, I hope to help those who learn best by listening.

CAN I REALLY LEARN BY LISTENING TO AN AUDIO BOOK?

Oh yes, definitely you can learn to make soap by listening to a book. Not everyone must see the directions, or have absolute hands on experience. Some of us need to hear our directions. Once we hear, we see in our minds what needs to be done.

On a personal level, I am a visual learner. I like to see the pictures and hold things in my hands. My sibling, however, just needs to hear the directions or instructions and “BAMM!!!!” things are done. Such an interesting thing to me. But, this is what helped me to be a better teacher in the classroom. So if you need to hear your instructions, you might be interested in learning by buying audio books.

WHERE WILL I FIND AUDIO BOOKS?

First of all, I must explain that audio books are found in different places, but an Audible Book is actually a seller and producer of spoken audio entertainment, information, and educational programming on the Internet. Audible is a good resource as they have paid plans and options that include audio books, TV programs, magazines and newspapers.

So when you ask where can you find an audio book, Audible, an Amazon company, can be one resource.

You can also look at your local library. They usually have a nice selection to choose from. I get them for a family member who is blind and loves to hear information.

Bookstores are another place you can search for your spoken books. This however, I find to be a passing thing now days with the Internet being so prominent and widely used.

MY RECOMMENDATION

I am happy to tell you that Amazon has a good selection of audio books through their Audible Audiobooks Section. Here you will find great titles from soap making to starting your soap business. Here are a few titles:

  • Natural & Organic Soap Making Alchemy: Hobby to a Successful Homebased Business
  • DIY Home Projects: 6 Manuscripts: Soap Making and more
  • Soap Making: A Beginners Guide to Soap Making
  • The Ultimate Guide to Soap Making

ARE AUDIO BOOKS EXPENSIVE

If you decide you want to learn to be a soap maker and you go to the Library, it will only cost you the price of a Library Card. But you might decide to go to the bookstore and find an audio book to buy. This could cost your anywhere from $20 to $30 for your choice of audio book.

Why are they so expensive? Mostly because of the expense of having a Narrator read the book to you. Then there are other expenses in development such as technical help, recording costs, and editing. However, when they are finished you will have a great resource to listen to when ever you choose. No worry about torn pages or stains.

Did you know an average novel will have around 80,000 words? When translating that novel to an audio book, it will take approximately 10 hours for a narrator to read and record. That means that the dollar signs are spinning like a lottery machine at the casino! Often, the use of a recognizable voice jumps the price up to an easy $5,000 for production. Yikes.

When I looked at the cost of joining the Amazon Audible program, I found out that you get a free trial and it will give you

  • 2 free audio books + 2 free Audible Originals to get you started.
  • 1 audio book and 2 Audible Originals per month after trial.
  • Audible is $14.95/mo after 30 days. Cancel anytime and keep all your audio books.

This would not mean as much to me if this program didn’t have a good share of DIY Soap Making books. So if you are interested, I believe this is a good program to get your audio books at reasonable prices.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Soap Making is and has always been a passion of mine. I have been making handcrafted soap bars since I was a young girl helping my Grandmother and the neighboring farm women. It was something we all got together to do on a special weekend each year. Then when on my own, I continued making my own soaps, wrote a couple of books of instruction and taught classes to others with my passion.

What I hope you will do is make the decision to create your own soap. However, it is so important to know what you are doing. Working with chemicals can be dangerous so education is a MUST.

It is easy to make your own soap, but don’t be fooled into thinking you don’t need to take precautions. Having a couple of good DIY Soap Making audio books will be such a help.

Yes, you can buy a hardcover or an e-book, but if you are a person who learns quicker by listening, you will want to consider this option.

As a side note, remember the gift of audio books when giving gifts. Books are lasting gifts but difficult to read as we get older. Eyes and general health often prevent us sitting for long periods and vision challenges often prohibit the enjoyment of a good book.

If you are hoping to learn something new for a hobby or perhaps even a small side business, the audio books will indeed help in the effort of knowledge. As I mentioned before, I do think the Amazon program promoting the Audible Audiobooks is a good deal for anyone who wishes to listen about making soap at home.

  1. Audible has a good service albeit a bit pricey than other brands. My first audiobook trial was with them and I really enjoy the listening experience while commuting to work. With the narration, I could imagine myself in the story so it makes the content more real than just reading it.

I have yet to listen to guide books – like soap making and etc – in fact, it didn’t cross my mind until I read this article. I guess I should be exploring such titles too and not just limit myself to fiction.

    • Cathy, I ‘m excited to say that Audible has such a great trial offer now. And I am happy you have been able to listen to the books while driving. It’s like having a passenger in your car!

I hope you will explore the titles on Audible in the DIY Soap section. Lots of good selections for those who are interested in making their own soap.

  2. For me, getting verbal instructions is great (and I’ve taken great advantage of it, being an active subscriber of Audible since last year).

Verbal communication is what has brought human kind up to where we are now. . .  hearing a book from time to time would be a good way to become a better listener.

    • I appreciate your comment. It is true, I believe, if we listen to audiobooks we can learn to be better listeners in society.
